Well, what a fine how-do -you-do! What showed up in the CBC mailbox today, but a box of Reed Gunther comics! Shane and Chris Houghton pilfered their stash and sent a bunch of issues straight to us, the bear ridin’, cowboy deprived, teachers and students of Denver!

Huge thanks to the brothers Houghton! Go buy their books!

If you haven’t read this book yet, learn more about it and its’ authors from image’s website:

http://www.reedgunther.com/about/

Reed Gunther, an all-ages comic book published by Image Comics and created by brothers Shane and Chris Houghton, follows a goofy bear-riding cowboy through his exploits in the spooky and exciting Old West!

Shane and Chris Houghton have been brothers as long as they can remember. Throughout the years, the two have collaborated on various creative projects, the most prolific being afternoon jam sessions in the garage. While growing up, it was hard to find either of them without a comic book within arms reach, and they are now extremely excited to be working together on one of their own.

Gene Mitchell, a teacher at Denver area Mt St Vincent home is teaching CBC’s exciting arts integrated curriculum with his students. Gene will be working with a group of students to help develop their literacy and art skills through the innovative lessons developed by the CBC team.

CBC also loaned Mr. Mitchell the necessary comic texts, as his book budget didn’t allow him to purchase the materials. The CBC team is excited to work with other schools in the near future, and has other sets of comics to share, if schools are interested.

Gene states that, “…the handouts look amazing. I can’t wait to get started. I really think the kids are going to love this unit.”

Stay tuned for a report of how it goes for Gene’s students. We may even post a kid generated comic or two!

Mt St Vincent Home http://www.msvhome.org/

A DAY OF HIGH ADVENTURE AWAITS!!!

Have you ever wanted to play a sword wielding barbarian, a thieving goblin, or erudite elf? Nows your chance!!! Suitable for rookies and veterans alike, ages 12 & up. ONLY $5 for a full day of play and concessions will be available!

The traitorous Duke Dalca hides in a castle with his army of undead. A heroic army gathers to bring the Duke to justice, but they won’t succeed without YOUR help. Battle vampires, dragons, goblins, witches, and more. Explore the ancient and mysterious lands surrounding the Duke’s castle. Play a pivotal role in an epic story. All proceeds go to benefit the Comic Book Classroom: teaching literacy and expression to kids of all ages with comic books.

Directions: If you plan on staying the full day, park in the Tivoli parking structure (AKA “TAPS”). Otherwise, there are multiple lots around campus which have parking rates between $2.50 and $6.00. The Tivoli is located on the north end of campus across the street from the Pepsi Center. Inside the building, find the tower elevator (the one across from the Cimmeron Cafe) to take it to the sixth floor. #640 is located to your right as you exit the elevator. Campus is also easily accesible via Light Rail.

Anyone interested in playing, attending or running one of the tables as a Dungeon Master, please email us.
